The Story
Exposition Park may seem like just another collection of metropolitan museums, but it's actually an epicenter of history and culture. During this 2 hour walking tour we will explore themes of nature, science, history, and astronomy as the guide takes you on a journey through space and time. Fun for the whole family or avid museumgoer!
First we’ll start outside of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This iconic coliseum has laid host to the Championship games of Baseball, and Football. The Olympics have been held here twice and will be once again in 2028. Legendary rock stars and infamous political and religious figures drew in hundreds of thousands of people here and are still going strong. Come snap a picture with the Olympic rings and torch!
Next we’ll take you on a guided tour through the highlights of the California Science Center. This institution is one of the only cities in the world with actual spaceships in it! Get up close and personal with the pioneering spacecrafts that led us to the moon, including the baby of the Space Shuttle Program, the USS Endeavour. Explore the 45,000-square-feet of exhibit space dedicated to live animals and aquariums from different ecosystems, including a 188,000-gallon tank with more than 1,500 live fish, kelp and other marine life in it!
After that we will go just outside the Science Center to a beautiful and historic rose garden that presents a view of the architecture and layout that reflects its earliest years. Learn about the fascinating development of the area and nearby campus across the street, USC, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the U.S.
We’ll finish with a guided tour of The Natural History Museum’s new wing. Be transported to another era while you admire the 75 foot long skeletal structure of a long-necked dinosaur and learn about specimens found by local scientists. Hear captivating stories of Los Angeles long before the glitz and glamor of the film industry. This museum is home to a vast collection of dinosaur fossils, gems and minerals, dioramas of African and local animals and much more. If you’d like more time to explore on your own, you can grab a ticket to the main building afterward.
